About these awards...

Post by golostruda »

...you closed the thread about BGAFD Awards before people could ask things like "Does it have to be a British film?" OK, we assume the best performer has to be a Brit but most of their best performances are stateside, so what is the criteria for the film category? Does it have to be a British registered production company? British producer? British director? British talent? Take a look at the Oscars. The film "Cold Mountain" is officially classified as a British film despite having no Brits in it (purely because UK companies put up 40% of the money). Many top British porn directors (Clive McLean, Mark Davis) only make films in the US. Many of the top British pornos feature primarily Eastern European performing talent. Give us some guidelines/rules at to what exactly is eligible for BGAFD Best Film, please. As I say, Best Performer must self-evidently be a Brit girl (or boy?), but Best Film is far more ambiguous.

Ummm.....Jude Law?

But other than that, good post, excellent points. Does Marino's Road Trip to St. Tropez count because it wasn't shot entirely in the UK? The mind boggles!!!

Hi Guys, front page of www.plusexpo.co.uk has the list of categories thanks to RGB, If its British, its British whether its shot in UK or anywhere else, the great law of common sense will rule on that. Any stupid or far to smart suggestions will be put in the "who the fu_k gives a fu_k file".
The reason its only R18 is obvious, its the law and the awards are there to help and promote those who are inversting time effort and hard cash into the British Adult Film & Internet Industry.
I think if you look at Cold Mountain's cast and crew as well as the finance you might just find more than a few brits,

snot obvious to me, why does it have to go through the second highest costing censor board in europe to qualify? All that money to the BBFC. Have you bought shares in it or something? Could still be a film in r18 guidelines but without that small little blue square.

It is Joe Coz I told you so, my shareholding has nothing to do with it. I have to point out all films not just R18's go through it. I don't make the rules I play by them and if I don't like them then I play something else not moan about them. The bbfc has save the adult 18R market for the British producers and distributers and that is not an idea or a guess its a fact. I don't always agee with their decisions (eg me naked on a moped is offensive) but thank f__k some laws are in place or Soho would be worse than Amsterdam "The beast capital of the world"

I can see the sense. Otherwise you might be running a posh do, showing clips "and the nominations are..." when someone rushes in and nabs them. This way you're safe. It's also a good way of defining which releases are elgible by their release date.

As a result none of Marios Trips will be eligible though. Shame, but if they get certified next year...
