Kim - although some videos don't need to have a BBFC classification, any that include sex scenes do. The BBFC charge the same for all videos, regardless of the classification. It's illegal to sell non-classified sex videos, including via mail-order. Selling BBFC classified videos via mail-order is ok, apart from R18, where you stand a chance of getting pulled up by Trading Standards.

Given that there is a focus on R18-type material right now, I think that there is a market for softcore and educational material. After all, not everyone wants to see just how many dicks can be stuffed into one girl at once.

The BBFC have certainly allowed more explicit material into 18-certificate films. If the film has "artistic merit" (e.g. French arthouse) or is "educational", they'll allow scenes of real sex.

Personally, I'd like to see someone make a decent sex education video and try to get it a 15 certificate (I'm not kidding !). There's no legal barrier to this (provided the actors were all over 18) and it would certainly sell in large numbers. It would require a bit of a fight with the BBFC but I can think of ways of getting it through. I'd only ask for a small royalty on sales...

Peter, Why not make it educational. or a factual event, claim exeption so they don't even see it, then argue the toss in court. The way things are right now it might be hard for them to argue it could corrupt when in your deffence they are passing double anal as ok !!!!
