A week or so back a perfectly innocuous post of mine got deleted.
Hmm.
Then Bill Malone?s (I think, I?m having to type this off line so I can?t check) post something about ?things I hate about porn?. Sounded like fun. But it was deleted.
Double hmm.
In both cases the rest of the threads were left hanging in ?cyberspace? (well, okay, the forum).
Hmm, hmm, fucking, hmm.
Then, a couple of days ago, I noticed someone?s post got nuked? along with Alec?s reply!
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear?
I shall of course (violins, plangent tinkly notes) continue to visit this, once wonderful, forum.
But?
Hmm.
But it?s not as much fun as it used to be?

Re: oh dear
I think you're mistaken. Bill Malone's post is still there in it's entirety as are any others that don't contravene the rules layed out in the FAQ.
Are you sure you're not confusing the missing messages with the forum glitches of late? If you get a message saying a post is unavailable then it hasn't been deleted - the threads are tidied up whenever a post is removed so you wouldn't be able to link to it in the first place. We are working on fixing the problems.
It's bad enough being accused of censorship when we're just moderating the forum to make it a better place for everyone to enjoy, without having a go at us when we haven't!

Re: oh dear
if a post of yours has been deleted and you're unclear as to the reason why, you can always email bgafd for clarification.
when no explanation has been posted in the deleted message's place, it's usually because the offending post was trollish, or the poster had been warned previously about breaching the site faq.
it's been made obvious by recent events, that moderating is a necessary evil. trolls will always try it on and the sad fact is, many people are readier to post in kind to a negative thread, than to those in keeping with the forum's purpose.
if that's boring, so be it!

Re: oh dear
I also know from email conversations that some of the girls who read this site are put off from contributing because of the stick they get or that they see others getting from one or two of these idiots. These people are spoiling it for the rest of us, so if anything, we'll be getting tougher on such posters.

Re: oh dear
I too appreciate their efforts, now that I know what?s going on.
I didn?t realise the apparent deletions were actually caused by server errors. Sorry.
The point i was trying to make was: I?ve been finding it increasingly difficult to get into the forum and, whenever I have (recently at any rate) a lot of the messages seemed to have been ?deleted?. But am I the only one having these problems? I doubt it.
Normally there are dozens of posts at the weekend but as far as I can see there have been very few this time (it?s just past 7pm Greenwich Mean Time on Sunday evening as I write this).
So how many other people are failing to get through?
What I suspect, and what I am trying to alert you to, is that your server problems are possibly more serious than you seem to think.
Perhas the rogue posters have left the forum alone, not because of the school holidays, but because they can?t get through anymore. That really would be a two-edged sword.
Ever since I discovered the bgafd forum (must be getting on for a year ago) it has been one of my first ports of call whenever I turn my computer on. It?s interesting to the point of thought provoking and, until the rogue posters, fun too.
So I care, okay! No criticism intended?

Re: oh dear
I check the forum 1 or 2 times per day. Over the past 2 weeks, success rate (bring up the forum screen containing list of topics) is around 25%. And of the successful times, around 50% end prematurely with "message unavailable" sort of error. So you are not alone Ian P.

Re: oh dear
I had no problems of any nature until Friday gone. this weekend i have failed to find it and then frequently lost the forum when pressing back or during a search. a line of garbage accompanies the problems.
