R18 on TV

I interviewed Ofcom's Tim Suter and Matt Peacock on the 7th April about broadcasting standards and R18/proscription orders/adult services amoung other things. Lots of avoidance of questions but still a few things some people may find of interest. The new Ofcom broadcasting code should be published within a few weeks.

Regarding the proscription of Extasi - the whole thing is a bit of a non starter, since the channel is now called Ultra Plus; so back to square 1 for Dept of Media Shite. They know full well they stand zero chance of actually proscribing/banning any legitimately licensed xxx channel from mainland Europe. All they need to do is show they are trying, what a useless bunch of wankers.

SCT are in the process of launching a 10 channel package and are also into ppv web TV.

Everybody knows the Dept of Media Shite only jump into action to pretend to be doing something once details of what is being broadcast reach the eyes and ears of the media and the moral minority. They are totally prepared to turn a blind eye, because they want an easy life and in reality they don't give a toss. What they care about is what people think of them.

But what are they doing about the current crop of Free to Air sex advertising channels showing hardcore - nothing, that is until some lame ass politician or religious bigot speaks out about it and how it will corrupt the children. Two channels as example are Canal 47 on 30W and Xstream on Hotbird 13E. Canal 47 have even shown animal porn - but the Media boys like to keep a low profile here as they know they will be pissing in the wind trying to get the Portuguese and Italian authorities to take them seriously ... and they don't want people back home to know they're about as effective as a cream puff.
