I think Private shop for their talent mainly in Eastern Europe so their fees are probably low. That said, plenty of Western European girls have worked for Private though (Kate More, who's Dutch, Grety, who's Belgian I think, and Britain's Laura Singer, Tamsin Le Vann and Layla-Jade. I imagine the rates they pay vary quite widely.
As for their "star system" or lack of it, Private very rarely buy in established big names (Layla's brilliant shoot for Pirate Magazine, and Jill Kelly's recent magazine work for them being notable exceptions). The stars they do have are "home grown" e.g. More, the ubiquitous Sylvia Saint, Nikky Andersson, Tania Russof, Sophie Evans...crackers one and all.
When a firm "grows its own" like this (in the best Dutch tradition) I guess it's inevitable that some will fall by the wayside...however there are one or two gorgeous women who've had shockingly brief Private careers - Lisa Crawford, Lea DeMae, Grety, and most of all Julia Taylor, spring to mind.

Re: What Models are Paid
I'd like to see more women producing and directing porn, and I agree, their involvement in capacities other than performer will grow. Those that have tried so far have often been succesful.
I think the last point about lack of choice in the porn market is pertinent, too. With porn still being seen as a socially marginal interest, even where it's not actually illegal, there will always be limits to the humber of people entering the market to compete. Many people will not invest in an "illegitimate" or "illicit" activity. Thus even in today's economically booming porn trade, the huge customer base is forced to buy from suppliers who can pretty much dictate content and quality, and, because they control the retail and mail order supply chains, price. There's a clear parallel with the drugs trade and I think time, and the changing attitudes it brings, is the likely solution.

Re: What Models are Paid
also Swedish star Lisa Sommer who appeared in films for Private
she was in Private Video Magazine 11, 14, 17, 19, 22
Lisa Sommer was one of the best stars I've seen for Private, but there are a lot of other great stars that worked for Private too, including Linda Thoren, Katja Love, Layla Jade, etc
I only saw Laura Singer in a Ben Dover video but she was good
has anyone seen Amanda Palmer in any videos?, I saw her in a Ben Dover film once

Re: What Models are Paid
Hi Wendy,
I do agree with you BUT have a look at the girls that are accepting ?120, for the most part I wouldn't even pay them that! The internet (as great as it is) has created a new breed of web models which are not only unattractive but also usually unreliable and unprofessional. I constantly read postings on US boards from photographers complaining that a model hired from a website was advertising herself with pictures 10 years old etc, it gives all of us a bad name.
When I quote my rates (which can be expensive) and I don't hear back from someone I don't really mind, I look at it this way, the people that pay a little more and usually the nicest and most decent. I apply the same thought to strippograms, if I had 4 in a night, 3 for ?100 each and one cheapy at ?50 it would always be the cheap one where I got grabbed, pushed and in one case punched and thrown down some stairs, I can live without that!Wendy wrote:

Re: What Models are Paid - Private
I think you've knocked the nail on the head here ..
If you work for Private you get to be filmed in places like Seychelles, not just some manky bed-sit.
It's probably not just about the money

Re: What Models are Paid
It might make difference if a lot of people didn't go and put money in the pirate's pockets instead of the producer's. This iswhat I love about this country, knock people who are successful and managed to make a few bob. With the tax I pay I'm probably keeping 3 or 4 families of asylum seekers at the moment, so think on. Incidentally I don't hear people who pay 25 quid or whatever it is to go and see some football match moaning about the players on 50 grand a week!!

Re: What Models are Paid
As far as I can see from this thread there is a real varied understanding of porn and porn stars. I am interested to find out what everyone thinks is a porn star,
Girls like Sofia Evans who has been around for a few years are real top class porn stars. We were working with her and most of the big Spanish names at the weekend. Companies are spending tons to promote these girls, Sarah Young was (and I love her) a spotty little kid when she met me and Remmington,,,Then Hans Moser spent a massive amount of money in her looks clothes and promotion, she retired over 5 years ago but her web site still makes big money...so what makes a girl good enough to be a porn star, how does she show she has it and convice a company to contract her. I know.
Tell me how many girl in the UK have contracts with companies activly working for them I am sure there is some I only know two,
So the last time I was in Soho the walls in all the sex shops were covered with porn promotion posters, I counted three from UK products the rest USA.
As for my pop at amatuer producers I stand by it, cause the stories I hear from the girls (I will pay you when the mag pays me, I just want to wank while I film etc) don't sound nice. Also many (not all) amatuers assume the girls are easy meat, cause they f..k on film they f..k anyone, this is so wrong. They are models & porn stars not hookers, they have no similarity. I have no beefs with escorts I have some very good friends that are and I understand why they do it.
They producers who have been around for years will be around for years to come (att Rimbaud) producers like Ben & Remmington are not amatuers and please don't think that, both have years of working with top companies and in top productions they choose to make there product look this way because of the market Bens orginal stuff was shot Hi-8 then edited in a broadcast Beta-suite I am sorry if I have let the cat out the bag to you, at the same time he was working on camera for Private on big buget stuff, As was Remmington for SLY.

Re: What Models are Paid
Thanks for that Phil, I was going to pull this chap up, he obviously didn't realize that the whole idea was to make it look 'home made' and get away as far as I could from the style I used when shooting the big feature films. On the other hand he called me a genius in the same sentence so I felt suitably humbled and went and had a cup of Earl Grey and a Hob Nob! I have to say though returning briefly to the topic, I think the 'proper' producers pay fair money. It is very well paid in relation to other 'normal' jobs whichever way you look at it. It is a bit nauseating sometimes when a girl I've worked with then goes and does some amateur shoot for 9 hours for half the money. I know the standard 3rd division producer's mantra very well "Now I'm afraid we haven't got much budget for this shoot, so I was wondering if you could help us out on the first one. Obviously when we've shot this we'll all become millionaires overnight and then we'll pay you properly" By the way to the chap who thinks Theresa May and Louise Hodges are worth 8 grand a shoot, I can only say that here is a classic example of how care in the community is obviously not working. - Which brings us neatly back to Margaret Thatcher, the woman who decided that hospitals for people with mental problems would look much nicer as ludicrously overpriced 'luxury apartments'.

Re: What Models are Paid - Private
Private pay the same as we do, it's just that because the girls are usually from Budapest or Prague, the money from one scene translates to six months average wage, which of course is why the standard of girls they shoot is so unbelievable. A lot of their girls do fashion and catwalk modelling and you can often see the girls in the movies are just there for the money because the performance is so flat. That's the reason I've never gone there. Of course there is no stigma; these girls are looked up to by their contemporaries because in their home country they're very wealthy, and if you'd been living under Communism eating beetroot for the last 20 years having Pierre Woodman's knob up your arse for the same money that your Dad gets after 6 months working at the local Wartburg factory might not seem quite so bad. Believe me, working as a model for Private is not all it may seem when one looks at the finished product.
