Re: DVD copy???
You can copy dvd with the correct equipment - a tape-streamer, a very large hard drive, ripping software and very importantly the DeCSS software cracked famously by MoRE (Masters of Reverse Engineering). This essentially allows you to copy the code to a hard drive and then rip to disc with the same coding.
However my advice is to buy original material (YC are a good choice)- its too much trouble plus you will be breaking copyright law.

Re: DVD copy???
Always buy original material and only ever copy DVD's for your own personal backup. Now I've said that, go here to learn exactly how to decrypt and copy dvd's. All the software you need is available for free download on that site.

Re: DVD copy???
Is it not easier and cheaper to find a vhs version somewhere? Having said that I have noticed that some vhs tapes bought from pirate companies are copied from DVD so it cant be that expensive or complicated.

Re: DVD copy???
all you have to do is turn off the macro on your dvd player and then record to vhs....bloody simple(if you can turn off the macro that is, most mainstream dvd players that are region set cannot do this)

Re: DVD copy???
Just buy one of the older APEX DVD players. Many are available on Ebay. They have no region coding and no macrovision. (or at least that can all be disabled).
Or, if you have a fairly powerful computer and a DVDROM drive you can pull stuff off onto disk, edit, copy, etc from there.

Re: DVD copy???
Buy any reasonable make of dvd player, there are region hacks for most and are programable through the remote control (you just access the engineers screen). As for macrovision you can buy a 'mod' and effectively remove macrovision. I pesonally have a top of the range panasonic not hackable and macrovisioned. One 'Mod' and ?80 later and I am region free and can copy to vhs. However be warned - tampering with anything invalidates any guarantee.

Re: DVD copy???
DVD's are possible to copy. You need a macrovision disabled player. If the DVD is encoded in NTSC format the copy will come out black and white. PAL will work fine.
One way is to "rip" the DVD on a computer.

Re: DVD copy???
And don't forget that you'll need a digital standards converter to tape anything that's NTSC onto a PAL VCR.
