I'm sure Matt is right to say the girls do it because they want to get paid, but my question really was, who decides whether and what they get paid? My impression is that most porn producers are such cheapskates they would take any excuse to cut down the miserable amounts they pay the girls, and 'sorry love, you haven't done enough anal' would be an obvious excuse, unless there is a clear agreement at the outset how much the girl is expected to do.

The trouble is you cannot find decent movies without anal. It is compulsary. I raised the idea that the industry has an obsession with anal sex and I stand by it. You only have to look at the number of videos and dvd's boasting about it to realise that. It is a personal opinion of mine and I can only speak for myself, and I for one am not buying the massive anal features. I agree with you that producers follow market trends, but certain things are promoted in certain ways. A lot of punters, as you point out, get into porn to watch stuff that's a bit 'taboo' in their lives. If something was marketed as 'even more taboo' then it would be appealing to them. To seemingly ignore the influences of marketing as you apparently do is to ignore a major flaw in your argument.
