I read today that Ian Huntley had been returned to prison, where he may or may not belong, He was being escorted to a prison van by some 35 coppers...thats three five, some carrying weapons and all in body armour.
Ok regardless of what he is alleged to have done, does it really take that amount of police to escort him back to clink, I mean he was doped out of his head, whats he gonna do? but a person gets mugged etc, a shop gets robbed, and your lucky if they turn up.
A good 20 of those coppers should have been on the streets where they belong protecting people/property, which is what they are paid for.
I,m not starting the is he is he not guilty thing here, just pointing out what a fucking crazy OTT society we have become..

Having singularly failed to protect Ian Huntley from the most obvious threat to his life by letting him stash a load of anti-depressants in a teabag, I guess the forces of law and order thought a ridiculously ostentatious display of protection would be in order.

Perhaps the 35 coppers were there to protect Huntley from the rabid, tabloid-fed pondlife members of the public who want to be judge, jury and lynch mob.

Thats more likely. I'm surprised the sun/star/sport etc. hasn't given away a free house brick to every reader who lives on the route to the prison.
