And he's living in Torquay now according to the Sun.
Stephen is 67. Can't believe that Reg is twenty years older than Stephen lol. Sad to hear about Bob Grant. RIP.

Here are a few facts about the cast:-

Mrs. Butler was played first by Cicely Courtneidge(wife of Jack Hulbert) she
she was born in 1893 died 1980.
The second Mrs. Butler was played by Doris Hare born 1905 died 2000 at
age of 95.
Anna Karen(Olive) was born in Durban, Sth Africa, in 1943 and is still alive.
Olive's husband Arthur was played by Michael Robbins, born 1930 died
1992.
I could not find anything about Stephen Lewis but if he is only 67 then I'm
only 47 because I'm 67 and although I say it myself do not look anywhere
near as old as Blakey

Nosey, Is that right about Cicely Courtneidge ? Amazing.

Steve56, did you actually like their films ? Didn't you think Hulbert one of the ugliest men on screen ?

This, along with Mind yer Language and Love Thy Neighbour are what is/was dire about TV sit coms in the 70's.
Appalling acting/scripts and VERY cringeworthy attempts at making cheap gags with blatent sexism/racism overtones. Now, Im a man of the world that does laugh at most jokes, even some racist and sexist jokes.....and I defy ANYONE to disagree that they don't find some funny, but these TV shows were abysmal.
I recall a spin-off film featuring them at a holiday camp. Reg had patent white shoes and a wad of brylcream and Bob had his usual techni-colour buck teeth and haystack hair and were 'pulling the birds' at 50+ years old. What was so BAD is that they actually 'pulled' a couple of stunnas!!!
I was only 12-ish at the time, but I remember thinking 'Bollocks!!'

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

I've met the man on the street............and he's a cunt

Many a true word. And i don't think it's the perfect science of hindsight that makes me agree with much of what you say, Ace.

Does anyone remember 'Curry and Chips' with Spike Milligan as an Indian/ Pakistani factory worker whose catchphrase was 'give it one' ? How pisspoor was that ?

And now Spike is lauded by the comedy great and good as being seminal/influential/genius/avant-garde (pick your own hyperbole). Loved his 'Q' series though.
