Best thing, keep an out-of-date credit card and $5 in one pocket, the rest as DB suggests. Worked for me in Central Park twice now. They are normally too drugged up and ready to run to check out what you give them.

Sounds very smart to me....being bailed up by any druggie can be a scary experience knowing they are capable of anything

I'd go one step further and have an old wallet full of Monopoly Money or Italian Lire...worth about the same

Got pickpocketed in london...I still laugh about it

Would have loved to have seen the look on their faces when they opened up the wallett.....
