So is Christopher Ecclestone the new Doctor? He is according to teletext anyway lol. I think his most famous role might be Raymond Colletri in Gone in 60 secs?

He was in Cracker too - played an incredibly moving death scene having been stabbed by Robert Carlisle's character.

Also in 'Jude' with Kate Winslet and that second coming of Christ drama on ITV recently.

as well as 'The others' which wasn't worth his effort frankly.
also '28 days later', '24 hour party people', 'existenz', 'Elizabeth', 'shallow grave' and just fantastic in ,'our friends in the north' (which i think teresa May was in too!)

The part he played in The Others was deliberately one note---there was no other way it could be played---but a lesser actor might have been lost playing it. The man has definite presence.

Terry is correct about Shallow Grave where Ecclestone appeared. I DID think he was excellent in Cracker, one of the BEST Drama's EVER to appear on TV. A combination of great writing and actors, especially the tortured Jimmy played by Lorcan Cranitch.

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

He's a little bit too 'look at me I'm acting' for my liking, but an intriguing choice none the less. Sadly, there's talk of Who being sexed up, which is surely missing the point entirely.
