I think you are missing my point - if Steves post had been about Hurricane Mitch then I would have said exactly the same thing.

My point is the number of people (here ane beyond) who refuse to feel sympathy for the victims of 9/11 and their relatives for one reason or another and, in most cases, its purely political and anti american.

I agree with you re:Politics.
That is never going to help as it is the same as the right wing "Well we had to bomb Iraq" type of mentality.

Certain disasters stick with us.
We're all affected by different degrees I guess.
I still think Titanic was a horrific incident even though it's almost 100 years old.
