And another thing
Re: Bull Bars
What, and ruin the entire impression the driver is trying to create? Why should someone's self-esteem have to be sacrificed for the sake of a few measly lives?

Re: Bull Bars
But aren't we missing one very important point
Its the Driver that causes the accident not the bullbar
Every different type of vehicle should need the appropriate licence IMHO
Just because you can drive a 4 cyclinder car safely doesn't mean your going to be able to handle a V8 or a 4 wheel drive with any great proficiency
You are right in that a lot of these SUVs are bought for the simply making the driver feel safer on the roads at the expense of other road users namely the humble car which when impacted from the side by a bullbar invariably crumples like an empty can of bake beans
cheers

Re: Bull Bars
Banning bullbars is never going to happen IMHO
They will be modified if they haven't already to be made from plastics and not metals.....crash testing shows they take the impact better
Metal Guard rails in several countries that I know of have started replacing them with plastics for this very reason
The results are encouraging
cheers

The Cuntryside Alliance emerged from/was spawned by the foxhunting lobby. The underlying argument is that banning foxhunting is just one attack the wicked pinko labour government is making on the rural economy. The townies have got it in for the rural way of life etc. etc. They've even enlisted the support of David Bellamy.

Re: Bull Bars
Lets face it, if you're hit by one of these vehicles even without bull bars you're certainly going to feel much worse than being hit by the family saloon.
They all have several things in common!
They're tall, solid chassis, flat fronted, very heavy & not very agile.
As was rightly pointed out in an earlier thread they have their rightful place of use, the school run or urban runaround certainly isn't one of them.
Maybe they should be reclassified as agricultural vehicles & their use limited accordingly.

One of the manufacturers had a study done of typical owners. Essentially inadequate personalities.

Re: Bull Bars
I always wondered why up here in the wilds of Essex these bull bar thingys were deemed necessary by so many, I can't remember the last time I saw herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically along the Colne valley.
Re: And another thing
aint it just true that these ?people carriers?, and similar giant cars have just seemingly caught on over the last couple of years, where as in the states it is seemingly a normal commodity, basically a way of family life, let?s just say that the yanks with the cheap fuel, insurance etc for these automobiles is more excusable and anybody else in the U.K. where you know these smart cunts that tell you how hard life is, business, social life etc, and then climbs in to one of these motherfuckers, you know these are the cunts that when they get a fall, you hope it hits hardest!!
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
