The Fantastic Four

Post by Ace »

Latest offering from Marvel comics is in production. Features the EXCELLENT Michael Chiklis (The Shield) as The Thing. Expect great special FX with 'Flame on!' and Reed Richards acting like 'Stretch Armstrong'
Will probably get massive publicity for its July 2005 premier, but I predict a mixed reaction.
Only The X-Men (1 & 2) and the first Spiderman film were excellent, others have fallen well short.

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

I still have the shelved version of Fantastic Four.
It was so dire, they pulled it.
I think it was shown just once and then pulled forever.
It was finished to complete a contractional obligation.

It sucks mucho.

Still.....Holden MacGroyn

BUT WITHOUT MY BRUCE LEE SIG BECAUSE HE'S TOO HARD FOR THIS PLACE...

The Fantastic Four and more

Post by The Last Word »

Ooh, tricky - director Tim Story has little form, and the casting of our own Ioan Gruffud as Reed seems odd. Up against the epic $200m Cruise/Spielberg War of the Worlds* remake at t'box-office an' all, but that may change.

Elsewhere, X-men director Bryan Singer has cast little-known Brandon Routh in the title role of Superman Returns. A somewhat cursed role it seems.

*A modern day 're-imagining' or some such studio-speak. Interestingly, a more modest original period version is on its way next spring, and a Jeff Wayne musical animated version is also mooted. For years nothing, then three in a row...

Personally I'm more concerned with the forthcoming Sin City film . As I love these books and after Once Upon A Time In Mexico I?m a little dubious of Robert Rodriguez.

Oh and cheers for the link steveb.

We got both kindsa music here. We got Country and Western

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Singer sees the entire Superman story as some sort of metaphor for 'coming out' and wanted to cast a closeted gay actor who would 'come out' as part of the movie's opening publicity...it could just be one of those wacky fanboy rumours that do the rounds, or perhaps time will tell.....

PS: Go see Hellboy! and Sin City when it comes out too...if Frank Miller approves of it, then it must be good!

Sounds like fanboy talk, though intended or not, gay subtexts have been swirling around both Supes and X-men's print and screen incarnations for quite some time. Hardly matters compared to the best news - Singer's using John William's terrific Superman theme music again. Hurrah.
