England have some fucking fantastic players and the potential to go all the way. But sadly I don't think they'll win anything under Erikson.
English football is the most entertaining in the world and the national side can be one of the most entertaining to watch but for me Sven is just not attack-minded enough for me.
I'd love to see them play great attacking football again like they did under Venables.
We Scots joke about hating England but it's all in good jest. I love watching England and secretly I want them to win.
Unless they're playing us of course!

I've just rolled in...........that was close! Kenny Miller (yes, Kenny Miller) scoring against Italy- that's ?5m added on to his transfer value!! Surely he can step up to the Premiership in the next transfer window and do a job for a half-decent mid-table side, a Birmingham or a Blackburn? He craves that level of football.

Aye, Jock's right- a lot of Scots don't despise the England side, or the players themselves- it's the arrogance, delusion and the outrageous hype of the commentators, pundits and press that riles us Scots. Us? We're shite, but we know we are! Rooney and Wright-Phillips are easy on the eye, yes, but England won't beat Argentina or Brazil. IMO.

Out of Europe already, poxy league left over to try and win. But c'mon the Hoops anyway.

FF you hit the nail on the head there. That's exactly it.
It really irritates me when I watch Lineker & Co (and Hansen does it too!!) get all carried away after beating Lichtenstein 1-0 in the first round of the World Cup.
They have this inferiority complex about the national team. Either it's doom, gloom and downright disaster or it's 'we're the greatest and we're going to win the tournament!!!!!'. There's no middle ground with these guys.
What really grates as a Scot is when England win and they still moan that the team were shite!
But yeah.....we don't hate the English....we just hate those irritating media types!

Only joking boys. It was a great goal but it's nice to have a bit of light hearted banter between the English and Scots.

One of the most terrifying experiences I've ever had was England v Scotland at Wembley so not quite sure were you get the Scots don't hate the English from.

However with refrence to the Scotland Italy match I actually enjoyed watching it more than England v Wales.

The atmosphere was fantastic (it always is) and I thought you were dead unlucky, the save the keeper made before Italy scored deserved more.

Your also dead right if England play a top team will we be hamered if Erikson doesn't change his tactics.

Believe me there are PLENTY of Scots who hate the English. And Scotland v England games bring them out! That's why the annual games were stopped.
