Crumpet: a very British Institution.

Post by stripeysydney »

Did any of you watch this last night on beeb 2,I know it's wallowing in nostalgia, but what a bunch of fit birds. They were absolutely gorgeous, still looking good after all these years, highly intelligent, witty, and really proud that they were called "Crumpet".
One commentator/news hack made the pertinent remark that the equivalent models of today are, well.... a bit desperate, and a bit yellowish, and a bit thick. then the programme proceeded to show a clip of Jordan. It was like at first dining on Chateau Briand then gagging on Turkey Twizzlers.
Officer Dibble, did you catch it? i would have thought it would have been right up your street...ooooh er, missus....

Hello,

This is my first post on the forum, it's a pretty good place to find the kind of vintage/retro/girl information I'm always looking for.

The programme on 'British Crumpet' last night was excellent. Compared to todays tats and skinny, waif-like 'models' the women of yesteryear were stunning. Valerie Leon looked superb and as for Caroline Munro...........

...saw bits (!) of it- top class!

The bird in Monty Python (wsa it Carol Cleveland or another character actress?) who played the milkman-collecting temptress... oooh, suits you!

A plethora of amazing Brits of that era.

What would the appropriate collective noun be...... A Cakery of Crumpet?

"Officer Dibble, did you catch it?"

'Fraid not, Sid. If my memory serves me, last night I was feverishly penning yet another anti-chav tirade. Anyhow, what was the upshot? Did they reach the same conclusion as us?
