I have been experiencing the above since about 6th December. I am on BB via wireless router. As this was only happening between 4 pm and 12 thought it was everyone coming home and logging on. To be truthful my PC was locking up/slowing down on all other sites as well.
For me to be on at this time and it still being usable is unheard of for the last three weeks or so, since I put Xmas lights up on 6th DEC.
I AM SO EXCITED........normally have to wait until just after midnight to do anything.

Wonder what's changed.......COULD IT BE I HAVE JUST TAKEN DOWN ALL THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS, that were on time switches set to come on at ......

Typical if the problem has gone away I will have to wait until next Xmas to see whether it is just a coincidence.

It's not just now. Several times over the years there have been odd problems. Six pm onwards and 10 pm onwards (both for at least half an hour) can be buggers to access.

Its easily solved

Charge a monthly fee of a US1-00

To many Wankers congregating in the same place
always causes delays in transmission/technical difficulties

Maybe we should have some online bouncers on the door to keep numbers under control?

I had this problem on one of the server i have a few forums on, i hit critical 3 days before xmas eve n on christmas day i ordered my server be upgraded a dual xeon machine to handle the load.

last january bgafd averaged 21,000 unique visitors per day. that figure is now around the 43,000 mark - and rising. egafd sits on the same server, generating 23-27,000 daily visitors.

additional strain on is caused by the nature of the sites. that is, people who visit tend to click around a lot (bgafd alone delivers well over a million pages a day). it's not surprising things need a bit of a tweak!

having said that, anyone who remembers the good ol', bad ol' days when bgafd regularly went down like a house of cards, will recognise that we've travelled a fair distance from whence we started...
