All these anti-bullying offensives are well and good, but as per most government initiatives, what possible good can they do?
Bully's aren't just born, they are created by circumstance and ignorance.
Kids who start bullying at an early age are bullied at home, it's a vicious circle that will not be broken by sloganeering and celebrity endorsements.
The worst time in many peoples live is between 12 and 15, a time when at school most kids are feeling insecure about themselves in one way or another and take it out on others relentlessy, some people never get over this and it continues into the work place. We have a guy at my place who is the boss from hell - beligerant, ignorant and stupid; he is like that at work because his home life is miserable.
Bullying will never stop, not unless we suddenly all become free of insecurities, envy and resentment - which in todays society is more unlikely than ever before.

The good they can do is allow people to stand up to bullies, rather than suffer in silence. If it goes unreported, the bully wins. If you stay quiet, the bully is constantly in your thoughts, the reason behind most actions you take. You are empowering a weak coward, giving them a standing in your imagination they couldn't hope to attain in real life.
The importance is making people responsible for their own lives, not letting others force them into certain decisions.

Physical bullying always gets a strong press response wheras verbal bullying seems ok, see Jodie Marsh for a perfect example. Another great example is the continual impersonations by "comedians" of Beckham, whiny voice and thick as a plank. As DB is the greatest player this country has produced since Stanley Matthews why these dickheads need to keep getting there cheap laughs at his expense amazes me. His wife of course gets the same, see that twat McGrath on They think its all over, every time the mystery guest is holding anything thin eg snooker cue, he feels it, turns to the audience with a smirk on his ugly face and says "is it Posh"? with the usual baying response from the retarded audience. Like a lot of the sneering breed he carps on about his university degree which like the others he puts to good use by appearing on TV quiz shows.
The finest example of this bullying was the Have I Got News For You show which fearured Christine Hamilton. As we know Mrs Hamilton has sinned badly as she was guilty of supporting her husband through thick and thin during his cash for questions case, bloody cow. For a spell during the show she was subject to a venomous attack by the other 4, Angus the "coke snorting serial shagger", Paul "I only think my jokes are funny and I will sneer if anyone else dares to crack one" Merton, Ian "Mr Potaoe head" Hyslop and some other twat. What a bunch of gits, much loved by the BBC though.

...but then again isn't the abiltity to stand up to bullies something that comes from being brought up to have a genuine confidence in yourself and not because of some govt initiative?
The best antidote to bullying I can think of is the philosphy of Anthony Robbins and other "lifecoaches" and writers, and it's all about acceptance of yourself first and foremost.

What did she do to you to merit the term bitch? the fact someone needs to earn a living and goes onto a topical news show does not mean they deserve to be bullied by the other panelists who I've no doubt if they were physically bullied who scream and shout about it.

I assume you don't watch this programe that often if you had you would know the funniest moments are when the panel get stick and everyone, including Hislop etc have taken some.
When Dayton was 'outed' for his drug taking the stick he got was merited and funny.
Why do you think Boris Johnson goes on the show he's not just been a panelist he's also presented it.
The reason is money.
