Gay Leaders

Post by mrmcfister »

I know its not illegal but I would not be happy with a gay Prime Minister and somehow I think I may be in the majority. It seems that until a couple of days ago, two prospective Prime Ministers thought the country probably thought like me,hence the lies.I know we've come a long way but ...

I rather have a gay prime minister than someone who is a religious fundamentalist.

Well said, Beutelwolf.

If someone is doing a good job as prime minister, and so long as there is no illegality involved, does it really matter who they sleep with? If I object to the likes of Mandelson or Alan Duncan or Simon Hughes becoming PM, it's more to do with their political beliefs or their personalities than the gender of their bedmates.

Besides, the more gay politicians the better. To paraphrase Dr Leech, "It leaves more rampant totty for us real men!"

After the Jeremy Thorpe trial, the standing joke was that if the Liberals got in they would make Homosexuality compulsury.
Don't realy care what anyone get's up to in their private lives, as long as they keep it private.

"Gays are much more likely to promote minority rights (not only gay) at the expense of the general population"

This is tired, old far-right mantra. Why do you poor, oppressed white middle class males think you're losing out if the government grants more gay rights, acts against racism or whatever?

Minorities can get their rights granted without the majority losing any rights, don't you get that? It's a shame that so much fear and loathing still exists among the ignorant of this country, even in a supposedly enlightened industry like porn, which has had to fight its own battle for recognition.

"The problem exists when you put a minority group in charge of anything, they can't help but exhibit their natural bias when making decisions."

By that logic you'd bar Gays, Jews, blacks, Asians, mixed-race people, Geordies, blondes, cyclists, vegetarians.... from holding office. You'd better list which types of people would make acceptable leaders from your perspective.
