So, what about the traffic cop who claimed that he was just honing his driving skills, getting clocked at almost 160 MPH on a motorway, and then being let off by a judge and hailed as the cr?me de la cr?me? I can't get my friggin' breath! He was also clocked at 91 MPH in a built up 30 MPH area! I've just received a twatting speeding ticket for doing 39 MPH in a built up area! What do you think the magistrate would say if I claimed I was just honing my driving skills - even at that modest velocity? Think he?d pat me on the back and dismiss the case, while rebuking the relevant officials for bringing such a trifling matter before him? Fucking 160 MPH? You or I would get friggin' banged up for that, never mind a fine.

It just shows you how sleazy and corrupt the judiciary and old bill are when it comes to looking after their own. What about all those times when the police have been caught out fitting suspects up, beating suspects up (sometimes on camera), and even shooting them dead? Yet they never seem to end up facing a jury in a court of law. They just get moved on to a different job or in the worst cases quietly retire and melt away. Yet if it was you or I we would be prosecuted big style, with all the sanctimonious pomposity the state could muster! Set of twats they all are.

I don't begrudge the copper getting his rocks off tearing down a deserted motorway in the wee small hours at some outrageously obscene velocity - any 'geerzer' worthy of the title has done the same. But I do object to the way ordinary citizens are remorselessly prosecuted for similar antics and I strongly object to the old bill evading justice even when they have been caught out fitting up innocent people (Guilford 4 etc) - people who have then been condemned to a lifetime in Jail! I find that a particularly heinous crime.

P. S. Turns out the speedy copper will now face a retrial. It seems that higher authorities have been embarrassed and realise how starkly sleazy and unfair this whole episode looks.

like 3 teenage gangs on my estate been intimidating me now for 6 years nothing in the slightest has been done ;yey i was called into the office warned about playing loud music or id be evicted when i complain about these cunts nothing.

Life has never been fair, but this present goverment is so authoritive and they rely heavily on the police to enforce their authority that some of the younger coppers think they are so elite and above the law, lets hope that in this case justice is seen to be done and this copper gets his just deserts.

My missus says the whole Police force feels he should get his just desserts, and shes in the force!!
Colleagues are quick to rally round mates in all walks of life, but this episode left coppers shaking their heads in disbelief

As I understand it he was actually charged with dangerous driving not exceeding the speed limit. This is because the police are exempted from speed limits and although most forces have a policy that this should only be done in an emergency, it is not, as I understand, written into the law. Nevertheless, as usual, the points Dibble makes are correct.

The also have a 'get out of jail free' card which allows persuit drivers to 'practise their skills' at any time, and without prior arrangement or notification of their intent to do so. Therefore, anyone flashed or caught by other means committing an offence can whip out the 'practising my skills' defence for a virtually automatic let-off.
