That's the one. Not quite the conclusion, though. The bully hasn't grown (not much physically, and very little emotionally). The narrator, instead, of shooting him, simply says, "Bang, bang, bang," then walks away as the bully finally recognises him.

Bradbury is a genius, and no one ever wrote childhood as well as he.

To anyone who's never read Something Wicked This Way Comes, I say, "Shame on you!"

When I were a young lad, we did get Bradbury stuff: A Sound Of Thunder and The Pedestrian were perfect examples of the art of short story writing.

Given his output, some of the stuff won't work. But the gold is beyond price. Reread Farenheit 451 recently, and in its way it's as powerful and influential a work as Brave New World and 1984. And just as far seeing.

The Martian Chronicles series didn't really work too well, but the book has some fantastic stuff: And The Moon Be Still As Bright, There Will Come Soft Rain, The Martians. Gems, the lot of them.

So no-one is interested in Jung's theory of syncronicity?
