Dibble,
I can never quite work out whether you're a smart bloke pretending to be stupid, or a stupid bloke who thinks he's smart. Will you tell me please?

Re: Israel's attack on Lebanon
Get yer facts straight. Here is the order of recent events:
1) Israel blockaded Gaza, resulting in starvation and chaos
2) A Palestinian group in Gaza kidnapped an Israeli soldier
3) Israel started bombing civilians in Gaza
4) Hizbullah kidnapped 2 Israeli soldiers
5) Israeli started bombing and killing civilians - 300 so far
6) Hizbullah responded by firing rockets at Israeli towns
Israel is consistently the attacker, not the defender. This has almost always been true for over 60 years.

Jim, you're right - fundamentalists on all sides are driving these various wars. Muslim, Christian and don't forget Jewish. It is up to sane people on every side to end this.

Re: Israel's attack on Lebanon
You make a good point on the right of return. But here's a point that most people seem to miss. There are two main racial Jewish groups: Sephardic and Ashkenaza. The Sephardi originate from the Middle East so could claim some right to return to Israel. Ashkenaza Jews (like myself) originate from a European tribe that converted to Judaism in the middle ages. About 80% of today's Jews are Ashkenaza.
So let's say this simply: Ashkenaza Jews have no right whatsoever to displace Palestinians from their land. We are Europeans, not Semites. Most of the Jewish settlers occupying Palestinian land have no ancestry from the Middle East at all. The Zionist myth is based on a huge lie.
The sad thing is, most Sephardic Jews have happily lived alongside Muslims for centuries. It was the post-Holocaust influx of ignorant and racist European Jews to Israel that created this mess.

Yep! You're on point with that one. I almost forgot about the difference in the jews. You have some ethiopian jews and of course a lot of people don't know about, the Black Hebrew Israelites over there too.

100% spot on!
Just look at all the Israeli Prime Ministers for example. Not one can truly claim to have a historical link to the region... Ben Gurion was born in Poland, Sharrett (possibly the most decent of them all and a genuine peace-maker) was from the Ukraine, as was Eshkol and Golda Meir. The first "home grown" Prime Minister was Rabin (b.Jerusalem when it was the British Mandate of Palestine), but his father came to Israel from the USA, and before that from Eastern Europe and his mother was Russian. The first Prime Minister of Israel to have actually been born in Israel was Benjamin Netanyahu, and even he spent most of his early life living in the USA!!
The vast majority of the Jewish population of Israel have no roots in the region, and the most fanatical have only recently moved to Israel to live in the (illegal) settlement areas that have caused so much trouble in recent years.

Sorry Jerry, but aren't "Yemenites" the Jews whose roots lie in the region? I thought Sephardic Jews originated from Spain?

Nowadays, Sephardi has come to mean any Jews who are not Ashkenazi.
