The law hasn't been passed yet.

It won't affect companies like ours, as the content covered is already illegal for distribution.

It has little or no effect on the legal porn industry, but it does represent an attack on freedom of speech which is worrying in more general terms.

Graham, before I read your bit about a fair trial I was about to make the same point. I have to say I was surprised that the BBC1 6 o'clock news made such a thing of how the mother of the victim had had such an alleged influence on the decision to go ahead with this legislation. In the circumstances, it could be classed as contempt of court. And why, oh why, do middle class people, who often have no knowledge of the subject they bang on about, carry so much weight with the media in this country.

This law is just one of many that will allow police to raid, stop, search and arrest almost anyone they feel like. Combine it with drugs laws, anti-rave laws, terrorism laws, ASBOs etc. and it turns out we now live in a police state.

Congratulations everone, and welcome to hell.

The main forum thread is for a serious discussion. The O/T forum thread is for Dibble to blame it on the Chavs.

You may be right that some are unnecessarily paranoid about this, but many of the things depicted on these 'films' are illegal in the UK already. There also has to be concern that people can become criminalised without realising they are committing an offence. The terms 'violent' and especially 'extreme' are highly ambiguous, I suspect that some videos I have many people would consider extreme although most would get an R18 certificate.

To me, & any sensibly minded person, I would say things like "Rape (enacted, not real), Strangulation/Suffocation (enacted, not real), Scat" could all be classed as Extreme Porn". I know there are people who like these forms of porn, however I still think they are on the Extreme side. However, I am not that saying they "should" be made Illegal, this is just my definition of what I think is "Extreme Porn".

Exactly, I can imagine if this law does go through, it harking back to the 1970's/80's of random raids/inspections & lots of trials in court over whether or not your produced material is "obscene" & infringes the rights of the "simpletonisctic fuckwits" who think they are the "ONLY ONES" who have the right to decide what we can or cannot watch/view/read/do in our own homes/business's.

And yes, I view most of the Governments viewpoints or issues as those coming from "simpletonisctic fuckwits".
