Your nominations please:
There wasn't much outstanding for me, Meds by Placebo had a couple of good moments but nothing like their best, Black Holes and Revelations by Muse failed to live up to it's expectations and neither did the latest offering from Faithless, so that only leaves me with the Guillemots - Through the Window Pane and an honourable mention for Joanna Newsom with Ys.

Snow Patrol - Eyes Open
The Kooks - Inside In/Inside Out
Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
The Fratellis - Costello Music
It's hard because it depends on my mood. Costello Music is lively, while Eyes Open is a little more subdued.

Spot on Jacques, there wasn't a GREAT lot to choose from. Arctic Monkies would get the nod from me.

In no order..
The Fountain (soundtrack) - Clint Mansell, performed by Kronos Quartet and Mogwai. Need I say more?
Sam's Town - The Killers. A more stable quality control than Hot Fuss, with Uncle Jonny and Bling being particularly cock-on, as they used to say.
Love - The Beatles. You want want to hear the original Here Comes The Sun ever again after its awesome workout here - and the string-drenched While My Guitar Gently Weeps is sublime. Better than the Antholgies.
Best sleeve art, btw, was Brand New's The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me, and yes, they are an emo band.

Can't honestly think of one masterpiece from 06. Sam's Town by the Killers is very listenable but nowhere near classic status. Snow Patrol baffle me, boring and not very good musicians. A lot of last years so called great albums were merely big fish in a small pond.

The Fratellis - Costello Music. Constantly playing on my iPod since I downloaded it.
Are you actually speaking english, or are you just making up words as you go along? I do that too...

I didn't buy enough music last year to vote for a best, but my favourite buy of the year was Bedouin Soundclash's album, which was very different and very cool. It's hard to pigeon hole, but a blend of reggae, rock and dance sounds.
