That's the thing though - I don't see myself as pro-porn or anti-porn. I don't really think there is any kind of ethical struggle for me. We're all adults, at least most of the people watching it are, all of the people making it are, I don't need the government to protect me from seeing something that millions upon millions of people are doing all the time.

"It's degrading to women." Bollocks. I'm a woman, do I feel degraded? No. What's degrading to me is working in an office 9-5 and never being promoted beyond administrator because I'm a woman. What's degrading to me is being paid less than men because I might at some point go on maternity leave. What's degrading to me, actually, is turning on a f*cking porn channel and seeing that all the good bits have been cut out of the f*cking film because some stuffy c*nt who hasn't seen a naked women in three decades has decided that even though I'm 24 I shouldn't be allowed to watch consenting, well-paid people enjoying each other's bodies if I want to.

And to add insult to injury, every day of the week on any channel, right in the middle of the day, kids can watch people getting beaten, maimed and killed in the name of entertainment. It's all over TV. Three brands of CSI, where people are dispatched in all sorts of colourful, violent ways and then cut open and analysed and prodded and poked, gory close-ups and all. Gaping, ragged, oozing wounds and bullet tracks, leaking blood and flesh and god knows what else. Tragic loss of life after tragic loss of life. Some of the victims are very young children, for added shock factor. The other week, a dead baby.

But I can't see a vagina on my TV, even though every single one of the three billion women there are on this planet has one?

What a MORAL society we have right here.



PS: I'm not knocking CSI, I love the show.

The thing is this, how can something be considered worthy of censorship if it can't published? Something can only be considered censured if it is published and as a consequence there is quantifiable evidence of harm.
