It's more appalling that our government hasn't pressured the Austrians further.
Side note: Got 'Animal Farm' and 'Nineteen Eighty Four' from Amazon this morning. Only ?6.99 each hardback.
I'll be delving into Animal Farm this Sunday evening. Hopefully it won't rain and I can sit in the garden.
P.s. I hope you enjoyed your day of 'culcha'

Re: self righteous stupidity
Regardless, jailing the guy because he has different views is plainly stupid. This just gives fascists the excuse to be looked upon as the persecuted, rather than the people to be sniggered at.
The Austrians say they're coming to terms with, and learning from their Nazi past, but are still fucking jailing someone because of a difference of opinion! Talk about thought crimes! Can't they see the irony/hypocrisy?

A suspended sentence would have been smarter but I'm guessing their trying to send a clear message to the far right

Its a popular vote winning policy I am betting
To hell with the ramifications if it gets our party re-elected

Yeah, the message that they're just as bad! Isn't jailing someone for a thought crime kind of a right-wing(ish) thing to do?
Tis a joke. They'd have been better not sentencing the guy at all, but have him on chat shows poking fun at his views. The sentence just shows they've learnt nothing from the past.

Thats us humans
Very rarely do we learn by our past history
Otherwise we would have figured out long ago that violence never solves conflict
