Sam,
Yes that is exactly the answer that I want because it is true! All Warren does is to avoid answering my points by digressing to other subjects and bringing in ridiculous comparisons with Shrek and so on.
If I was in the British Army fighting Al Quaeda I would know that Muslims watching The Patriot regard the historical events portrayed as true and it can be used as effective propaganga.
Mike.

I'm glad you brought this subject up. There is SOOOOO many films in hollywood that's been distorted, pumped up, lied about, and sterotyped to death that to me it's not worth even GOING to see a movie and NOT to mention the price of a show these days also. Michael Moore's movies, and Spike Lee's movies are usually are always worth seeing. !annoyed!

Thanks CJ,
What do you think of Schindlers List? True or not? The Patriot?
I love Americam movies but usually watch them on TV.

I agree. I think that "falsification" is "entertainment". While they do tell the truth about things in my opine I think they "add" some things here and there to make it interesting enough to watch or it might be boring to the "lay" person who ain't up on things.

Mmmmm, maybe....
You could say that if a director has to add in lies to make the movie interesting, them maybe he isn't as good a director as he thinks.
In the case of PATRIOT, the 'massacre' scene is obviously inserted to play on the viewers emotions. American movies always have to have definite lines drawn between good and bad; holy and evil.
I find serious British -and some European movies I've seen-, while low budget, usually portray scenarios where you can see yourself in the situation, and where it makes you think about decisions the good & bad make. They make you think more.
In American movies, it seems like the director has an idea on what emotions he wants the viewer to feel, and then directs accordingly. Everything is done for you. In the case of THE PATRIOT, I'd have liked a more truthful story, emphasising why the British subjects were turning against the mother country, and a take on why the King didn't agree, and decided to suppress independence.
It's just a personal preference though, and take on what I wanted to see.

I agree. I don't know if Michael Moore or Spike Lee are lying but they may be adding a little here and there to spice up an otherwise boring movie and I'm sure someone can contradict what they're saying. You're right though, if a director has to "lie" then he or she may NOT be a good director.
