Agh, I thought you may know something about him I missed, like being a secret Polish migrant or something.

I think CK was destined to become a politician from the moment he was born.

Odds on a return for CK [and I don't mean Clark Kent]?

They could do a lot worse. Not sure if Charlie Boy has got over his demons, though. And blaming his pisspoor performance a few years back on his baby son rather than J Walker Ltd won't have helped.

But he's ginger, which is a strike against him. Don't ask me why these islands are so anti-ginge, I couldn't say. But Neil Kinnock----ginger and Welsh at the same time made him unelectable. Only two things that saved Churchill was his lack of hair and the rarity of colour photography at the time.

There's a Lib Dem MP called Viscount Thurso who's MP for well, Thurso. He's the spitting image of Lord Lucan! I wonder what the reaction would be if Thurso stood as a leadership candidate?

Hee hee- I'd forgotten WC was a ginge.

Anyhoo, resolve this conundrum:
I have voted Labour all my [now fairly lengthy] life [but see below] on
principle.
I refuse to vote for a party that is essentially 'Tory-lite';
I have for the last three elections voted Lib-Dem from principle [see above];
I now accept that the Lib-Dems CANNOT gain enough votes to form a
functional government;
...and I cannot on principle vote for 'Tory-Lite'.
I abhor and despise what Thatcher [and to a lesser extent Heath] did to
this country....
... but I believe Cameron is a man of [albeit small] principles, and I loathe
Gordon Brown.

Can I, in good conscience, vote Tory- or should I abstain?

Well, I'd have to say you should vote Tory if all of those things are true. But since I dispute the "man of principles" argument, forgive me if I don't join you in putting my X for the greedy party.

Our democracy is flawed in so many ways. Voting Lib Dem on freedom issues means voting for a tax rise as well. Voting Tory on immigration means having to accept that Nigel in the city is going to pay roughly your annual salary less in taxes, while Sir Wilberforce will see his senior civil servant pay of six figures increase by at least 7% and probably more while you have to make do with 2% of your pittance. Voting Labour on social issues means "Hello Trident replacement and hello more nuclear power stations."

Proportional representation, for all its many faults, keeps a check on the party leading the government.

Oh, and it's well past time that Labour MPs from north of the border were prevented from voting on issues that are devolved. Health, education, rural affairs----nothing to do with you, so show some moral backbone and refuse to be lobby fodder.

So, in the end you're as clueless as me?
