I saw The Brave One last night and both me and my friends all liked it. I dont think I've seen Jodie Foster in a bad film yet...probably because a: She can read b: takes time to assess if she really want s to do it and c: Just doesnt do it blind for the money.

I enjoyed this as much as Panic Room

Myers does not commit the rape; one of the mental institution's warders does.

I thought the scene worked rather well.

.....absolute rubbish.

Being aimed at a teen audience that seemingly wants every nuance ironed out, the vulgarity and trendy nastiness were to be expected, but where was the tension and build up etc? A director doesn?t just direct the film, he directs the audience ? something John Carpenter showed a distinct mastery of in the original and Zombie show?s no aptitude for whatsoever in this latest worthless dud for the remake pile.

The original was new cinema that drew on the raw power of the old. Like many who came through in the 70s Carpenter had really done his homework. Zombie?s lurid rethink is merely symptomatic of the falsehoods afforded by the latest technology in the hands of young film-makers. So many edits, so much trickery, but you have to learn to walk before you can run. And that?s the problem.

Avoid this trash.

Dire! A clumsy take on a classic film that didn't need remaking.

The first half of the movie consists of an unnecessary back-story where
Mini-Mike is shaped into the Man he'll become. Zombie opts for nurture over Carpenters nature, for a Stripper Mum and abusive Step-Father, a Serial-Killer do make. As a viewer you could be forgiven for thinking you were watching Myers formative Years in real-time. The plot line being so tortuous it may lead to self-harm.

Post Halloween 90210, we see Michael briefly incarcerated, before escaping into more familiar territory. For from here on in, it's effectively a retelling of the 1978 original.

Squashed into a little over 45 minutes, you'll have seen the second half of the movie before, except that it was better first time round. With such litttle time invested in them, you won't care as to whether or not Laurie Strode and Friends live or die. Where Carpenter employed build-up, tension and suspense, Zombie employs violence. And thanks to the backstory and casting of a Wrestler as Michael, gone are the supernatural overones of the original. No longer the personification of evil, Michael's just a big Bloke with a chip on his Shoulder. It would appear his Doctors opted for intensive weight training and a course of Steroids, over more conventional therapy.

When all's said and done, the remake's no better than the by-numbers sequels that've been churned out over the Years. Either save your money or spend it more wisely picking up a copy of the original Halloween.

Rob Zombie always casts his wife, Sherry Moon Zombie, into his films, whether she fits the part or not.
