Produced their best stuff under the IRS label, weren't a resounding commercially successful then though, despite high critical praise.
'Eponymous' and 'Life's Rich Pageant' superb.
My fave REM song is 'Fall on Me', beautiful. Give it a go.

REM can still knock out a strong single but all their albums since Monster have been patchy to say the least.
They made this evident with their following release. E-bow The Letter - superb. New Adventures - er...oops.

'Talk about the passin' is great.
I remeber going to Berti Vogts ill-fated Scotland managerial home debut at Hampden, we were playing Denamrk.
The team lacked passion, and my mates and I were going a bit daft!!
I got up and started singing 'talk about the passion' and everyone looked at me as if i was a weirdo!!! !laugh!
Just too cultured.
There's a REM called "Don't go Back To Rockville"; Falkirk's home ground is called Brsckville, which was soon to be made into a branch of Tesco. I got up and started singing, very passionately, "Don't Go back to Brockville"- only my mates 'got it'.
Brockville was a scream, dire, dire facilities!! Pissing down the back of the stand, as you couldn't access the bog.
Happy days.

Passion with a german defender in charge...never going to happen
Good old rockville...we got 2 types of music i this here little ditty
country & western...so sit back and enjoy
I can relate to those awful run down grounds
Sounds almost as bad as motor racing(V8 touring cars) at Sandown Victoria
5 toilets for 100,000 crowd...pissing from 6 deep standing in 3 inches of urine...I kid you not...went religiously for 6 years
