Re: Ipod nano v ipod classic
What will they use it for mainly?
Walking around, or in the car? I'd go for the nano. It does everything the classic does apart from holding 1-2000 songs instead of 20,000 (who carries 20,000 songs around?)
The nano's smaller and available in different colours.
I'd only get the classic as part of a media centre, hooked up to some nice speakers in the house, with all my music collection on.

Re: Ipod nano v ipod classic
The only thing you really need to think about is the memory size. Unless you are a real music freak who needs to have all their music with then all the time, the nano will be fine.
We have need of you again, great king.

Dock it into what? A charing docking station or speakers/music centre?
The new nanos dock into most stuff now, but you can buy an adapter if not.

Re: Ipod nano v ipod classic
So you want it to dock into some sort of speaker station?
Something like this?
Yeah the nano will dock. Some of the better speaker sytems just plug into the headphone jack, and do not dock no matter with ipod you choose.

What to do in case your IPOD freezes
You may find this useful IPOD fans:
Well, I?ve had my 3G iPod go limp on me once, but when the new(ish) iPod mini refused to come up before my impending workout this evening, I figured I?d better write down the steps to resurrect it here since I actually had trouble googling on ?reboot iPod mini? and ?reset iPod mini.? So, if you?ve come to this post via that means, Benvenido ! Don?t panic. Salvation is near? You can reset the iPod without suffering any ill effects. Your music, settings and data will be fine. In order for the following process to work, you may have to have the power plugged into your iPod via a power enabled firewire or USB connection so that power is going to your iPod.
Make sure your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. (so you see no orange under the switch)
Press and hold the following combination of buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds to reset the iPod. Count mississippis if you like?- iPod 1G to 3G: ?Menu? and ?Play/Pause? ? iPod 4G+ (Photo, Video, Nano and Mini): ?Menu? and ?Select?
If you have an iPod Mini or 4th gen iPod or higher (nano, video, photo), then you need to depress the Menu and Select buttons, not the Menu and Play button, to restart. The Select button is the center button in the middle of the wheel.
Upon reset your will see the iPod name and the Apple logo before it advances to the main Menu.
Once you?ve gone through this process, your iPod should mount on your computer fine. If not, you?ve got trouble?
Worked like a charm?
Go on say it...You know you want to...Go on..just once...
