I think you'll find that both Eleanor Rigby and Penny Lane are McCartney songs. As for Paul being crap without John, then Lennon was crap without McCartney. They both needed each other to say 'That's crap, we're not recording that'.

They both wrote some good individual songs but never anything to rival their beatles output

The clue with The Beatles is in who is doing the main vocal: John for John, Paul for Paul, George for George, and Ringo for John and Paul.

The two wrote very little together---A Day In The Life had a McCartney fragment put into the middle of a Lennon song; Two Of Us was probably their only real collaboration in the later years. But the rivalry between them, and the skills each had, inspired them. Without that rivalry, the magic went.

Without them Oasis might not have formed Liam and Noel are big fans i admit i like them but not overkill like some radio stations.
