I don't give a monkeys about what shrinks say or think. The bottom line is that Steve Wright is murdering scum and i hope that life MEANS life, and any Cherie Blair-type defence lawyer who dares trying in making a name for themself in getting his sentence reduced in future years to come should be sent to prison as well.

If i had my way Wright would swing or fry !thumbsup!

Ian Huntley, Steve Wright and many other criminals have mental illnesses but they dont get let off or excused. We arent going to say to Steve Wright we know you killed those 5 girls but hey you had bipolar so we will treat you and you can rhen go free - rather like A Clockwork Orange.

So Steve Wright has got full life . Good.
I just wonder how much this is going to cost the British tax payer .

He certainly will not be going without, what with free medical care and numerous leisure activities he will have a better life than many OAP's
Also i can see the do good Psychologists (prats) getting on his case.

Today we have had Mark Dixie sentenced for the killing of aspiring model Sally Anne Bowman . From her photographs a beautiful looking girl who could even have appeared on these forums if she had been allowed to live

Once again another Violent thug with a string of violent sex offences allowed to walk the streets . Will this country never learn.

It takes way more than that to justify what he did- in fact, it is unjustifiable.

I thought one of your stunningly accurate personality disorder "benefit-of-wiki-and-hindsight-armchair-pseudo-psychologist-but-university-wouldnt-let-me-in-diagnoses" would be in the offing here.

Change the record- this particular one is scratched and jumps too much.

People naturally want to understand why a murder murdered. In most cases it has nothing to do with excusing him or giving him a lighter sentence although leniency would obviously be applied to, for example, a woman who suffered serious physical domestic abuse from her husband for years and snapped and killed him.

Your comparison has no foundation!

Two entirely different cases: a serial prostitute murderer, and a mentally/ physically brutalised woman at the end of her tether: just as there is a clear distinction between 'mental illness' and what the layman would define (in terms of a murderer) as 'mental'; bipolar is not a factor in either- and you are now straying into the huge grey area of 'bad or just mad?'.

A lot of the REAL bad 'un's plead 'mad' for an easier custodial life, and perhaps for justification. Bipolar or not, as Carac said, we all make choices- depressed, manic or whatever.

I already covered this in my post yesterday. Almost all premeditated murderers have a mental illness and for premeditated murder any mental illness makes no difference to the sentence. Ian Huntley, Ian Brady, Fred West, Harold Shipman etc etc certainly all had personality disorders - they were psychopaths. But no-one would suggest for a moment they should have it any easier.
