Shocked to notice Jody Morris playing for Perth's St.Johnstone in the Scottish Cup.
One nightclub too many?...How the mighty have fallen.
Jody Morris @ St. Johnstone!
Re: Jody Morris @ St. Johnstone!
Yes, I noticed that too. He missed one of their penalties. Not so sure about 'mighty' though.
Re: Jody Morris @ St. Johnstone!
I am surpised that anybody noticed as they would surely have fallen asleep during that classic - went on my computer for 10 minutes during extra time and was shocked to find that I had missed TWO GOALS having watched the earlier 100 minutes of utter shite ... I tell you those moaning Chelsea fans don't know how lucky they are because being a Rangers Fan this year has been one totally depressing experience - despite the fact we could win the quadruple!! Watty Smith is well out of his depth and I pray he is not about next season.
Jody Morris as the playmaking holding midfielder just didn't work for me though ...

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
Re: Jody Morris @ St. Johnstone!
Total waste of a career.Jody was destined for big things when he was at Chelsea,as a youngster, but he fucked around too mucg, and as colonel said, one nightclub too many. The last straw for Jody was when he was involved in that fight at the Wellington Club, alongside John Terry back in 2001.
Surprised to see him still playing football tbh.I thought he was banged up.

another shocker
I doubt many will remember or even know him but Lee Ashcroft, who left North End for WBA when they were in the Prem, (I think) works for B & Q.
He was a popular player at Preston most thought with the world at his feet and when he left most of us thought he would do very well.
I was completely gobsmaked when I opened the door to take delivery of a wardrobe to see an ex Preston 'star' player.

Re: another shocker
A lot of these guys lnow from an early age what they are going to do, and they ignore everything but football. There's no "what if" for some of them, no career-ending injury and no chance of not making the big time. And if they do make the big time, and the silly money begins to come in, well, that's just how life is always going to be. Except that a footballer's career is limited by how long they stay fit and healthy, and how long they can impress against younger players.
There are some smart guys among them, the ones who learn a trade or gain a college or university qualification so there is something to fall back on if the worst should happen. But a lot just think they are golden children destined for great things.
Morris has been given a chance at St Johnstone, having squandered chances at Chelsea and various lower division English clubs. At 29, he's not going to resurrect his career significantly, but it's to be hoped that he's learned something along the way. And there but for the grace of god go John Terry and Frank Lampard, by the way.

Footballer with sense shocker
Ashley Ward. Played for plenty of clubs with decent transfer fees
involved. Believe he invested quite a lot of money in property and it's
his wife who designs the mansions for the likes of Colleen and the wags
Saw his gaff on tv last year, he certainly must have a bob or two
Good to see a footballer that didn't booze or gamble all his money away

Re: Jody Morris @ St. Johnstone!
don't think the rape allegations helped much either!
we are Leeds.... , and we can still beat the mighty Chester
Re: Jody Morris @ St. Johnstone!
Jody was destined for big things at Chelsea, but believed his own hype he was a future Chaelsea and possibly England, captain.
A wasted talent.
I think he was caught eating a kebab at 4.00am on the eve of a big game which was the death knell for him.
Regarding the rape allegation, it was proven that she was a willing participant who decided to blow the whistle after she was dumped after his fun, but shit sticks, and Jody was barracked from the terraces.
I thought he'd retired after Milwall released him, which, to be honest, he only got a game there as Dennis Wise was manager.

Re: Footballer with sense shocker
Hmm..football is littered with dropouts who had it all too early- we had a kid called Simon Bryant, England u-19, played for the Gas for 5 years, just didn;t fancy it, and didn't put the time in. Last seen reminiscing in some pub in Bristol going on about the glory years (in League 2!).
Interestingly, the uncle of Jamie Cureton (ex BRFC, now of the Canaries), told me that JC was on ?6k a week plus ?1k for playing and ?2k per goal just playing for them. Now I know St Jonny are relative paupers in the grand scheme of things but I venture Jodie M must be picking up ?4k a month, easily ?50k a year, before missed penalties. What woudl he have done without football?
I know you could say he 'had it all' but it's not such a bad deal and a good few journeymen make a decent living, better than what he would have been doing otherwise.
