NERO question?

..can anyone advise re the NERO start smart essentials programme for copying onto DVD etc..whenever I go to put anything onto DVD using Nero the picture is fine but the sound is all over the place (actors sound like they're on helium)..are there any settings I need to alter?..thanks in advance , LB.
