Anyone remember the great album Year of the Cat by Al Stewart?
It seems to have been air brushed out of pop/rock history and is hardly mentioned nowadays.
You can hear it here if you wish (may need to register first)
It is on the Planet Suzy website/forum where you can talk about porn, and other subject (including music)

I remember the great single.
Didn't Al write a song for another performer more recently that made him financially secure?

Saw him perform it live at Warwick Uni and still have the album but not played it in years.

Absolutely classic song.
Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?

Yes I do, driving an open top Ford Mustang in Los Angeles in 1977, down Sunset Blvd. Perfect song for the occasion.

One of my most played 'records' when I was about 17 or 18 when it came out. The album cover was interesting to study and notice how many things were cat related.
I liked most of the songs on that album, yet as you say, it's virtually ignored now. Rather funny to think that I'd play Al Stewart, than put Ian Dury on next. When it comes to music, I'm a slut - I'll go with anyone who gives me a good time!
