Webcam - technical query

A friend of mine wishes to set up one of these "24 hour webcam sites" (ie, sadly, not porn - but just looking at a view)

I am assuming that this would be hugely costly in terms of bandwidth transmitting 24 hrs a day to a URL hosted somewhere!

Does anyone have any experience of how to set up or is able to point me to a weblink somewhere ?
