Windows 7

Post by beck images »

I have just upgraded one of my PCs to Windows 7. Only did as it's my main work pc and Vista was so shite and would never close the pc down if I had any external drives attached. At least 7 solved that problem. Although it's been smoother than XP to Vista, still get the occasional glitch, mainly with Firefox. Kept writing gobbledegook, had to keep resetting and cancelling add-ons. Working again at the moment but anyone else got any experience with windows 7 yet? I also still have another laptop running vista and think microsoft are rip off merchants to insist on one pc per upgrade purchased considering most people have more than one pc per household ( and would never pay ?150 for a family pack bullshit). I also use macs (which cost me ?9 to upgrade to snow leopard) and 7 is a huge copy of the mac desktop.

Anyway anyone else using it yet and any other problems?

I will also say the stack system, which is a mac copy is better and more constructive, plus the side by side snap is very useful when working with various images as I do.

Only problems I've had with Windows 7 was getting 5.1 surround. It's obviously just a driver issue and will be fixed by realtek now the os is out of beta.

I still think it's expensive but since you can do a clean install with the upgrade version then it's not too bad. Windows 7 duel-booted with a linux distro will do me for the next 3-5 years.

Since you guys have been using the beta etc for a while, is there any way round using my existing upgrade copy and licence key to upgrade my other vista laptop to 7 as is without having to purchase another copy/licence? I hate vista and prefer 7, as it's specific features make my life easier as does the mac. Any help appreciated.
