Not sure if I go along with that one actually, Reg. I've seen some absolutely stunning ladies in some truly horrificly dull productions. Andrew Blake's 'Aria' is arguably a good case in point (though I appreciate that Gonzo was never meant to be his thing).
I'm quite partial to the odd tatt, and the occasional piercing. For me, the beauty of the performer lies not in her vital statistics but in her energy on-screen. If someone can burn up the screen and make me cry desperately for water to ease the heat, then to me she's a star.
Porn is about arrousal and nothing more. It has nothing to do with the style, the producer, the distributor etc. - it has to do with whether it turns the viewer on. If that focus changes, we have bad porn. As far as I can tell, if Gonzo is to die it is not because there is a lack of 'good looking girls' (which I'd personally find quite offensive if I was a performer in the genre) but it will be because those behind the camera are getting far too involved ON the camera side. Focus changes, genre dies. Plain and simple.

I'm sorry, how can it be "offensive" for a performer if a consumer wants her to be good-looking?? That is what this is all about after all.She chooses to put herself forward for public scrutiny, & the criteria the public chooses to employ is the business of the public. She ain't doing it for free, like on Webcam.

Hmm, Matt hit the nail on the head. Is gonzo dead? Not as long as porn is alive. Let's not forget that gonzo porn has provided some of the most honest, natural, spontaneous sex the world of porn has seen. (Yeah, I know a lot of it has been contrived too) As long as there are girls on the planet will this genre survive. As far as I'm concerned, it is here to stay. Fads in porn, come and go, then come back again.
As for thinking up new genres...I'm sure there is someone somewhere doing that right now and he/she shall rise like a star in the world of porn and we shall all recognise him/ her as the chosen one and bow before him and gaze in wonderment for he shall bring to the light what was so long in the dark and thence we shall know his name for his name was a simple name...I dunno who or when, but somebody will come through and revolutionise this racket and make their mark. Meanwhile it's business as usual until that person gets here. Who knows, that person may indeed be a woman. There are some women I've met that would put some of us fellows to shame on the subject of filth.
Reggie said something about shooting top notch girls. I'm sure every pornographer in this business is striving to do just that every day. Rest assured. It's not all about throwing loads of money at the girls either. It also depends on the market and what the whole thing is worth, unless we're all in the business of not making money and giving it away to pretty girls. Oh, sorry, we do that already. Believe me, I've heard figures of ?5k and ?10k bandied about for the likes of LDM, Adele Stephens and Natasha Lee Nel to name a few. So that is not really the solution...But meanwhile, we're all working on it.

Gonzo will never die because there will always be someone who hasn't seen it.The next generation of horny teenagers will keep the industry of Gonzo alive.
A lot of the people who seem a little tired of Gonzo are those that have watched a lot of it.Like anything do it for too long and it becomes monotonous.
The only way to reinvigorate,is to make subtle changes so the long time viewer will once again be exposed to something new and exciting.Just needs a creative mind and a lot of money-but then it wouldn't be gonzo-because gonzos cheap-right?
