Cash for Gold

Post by welkram »

Has anyone any thoughts on this?

We see on TV so many companies advertising instant cash for old gold. So we rush off to look at the back of our drawers (me) or into our jewellery boxes (my wife) and pull out all the pieces we have not worn in years or that were left to us by old Uncle Morrie or Auntie Mamie. We then shove them in some pre paid enverlope ond whisk them off to some company who will pay you the gold value.

I remember in the past many Jewellery shops buying broken gold for melt down, if the piece was was not broken or could be re-uesd whole or in part then you were paid a higher price. Does anyone think that these new melt down shops don't re-use or sell on some of the pieces but only pay the bullion price- perhaps that serves the dumb ass right who sent it in!

The other point is, does this sort of operation suit Billy the Burglar? If these melt down shops accept any gold and will pay out within 24 hours will this put out of business those Pawn shops who used to make a living fencing stolen jewellery and who used to pay Billy and his mates a fraction of its value, even of its bullion value. Could this sort of operation lead to an increase in burglary?

I've seen those ads too (scandinavian)... some company is really aggressively advertising. I get the same feeling what I get from instant loans by mobile phone ... which is kind of similar as a scheme. Quick money that's bought expensively.

That's an interesting thought, though, sending stolen gold.

Jim, that was very interesting - all these adverts seem to good to be true, and you know what they say about that.

I saw this week that one of the advertising companies have even roped Dale Winton into fronting some of the TV ads for them.

They`re an American company, they used to sponser and American radio show, Opie and Anthony and they made the same joke, that it was just for muggers who didn`t have someone to fence their hot goods.
I don`t like that smug looking bald bastard in the ad, almost as annoying as the go compare cunt

Bukkake shots where you are with a few other guys...is fucking gay.

In fact, about pulling trains with a woman...you wanna have sex with other guys and mix your sperm with theirs...you're just using a woman as a conduit.

I think that you hit the nail squarely on the head welkram. You would have to be a dumbass to use the robbing bastards and serve them right.
Every high street has serious reputable jewellers who buy gold jewellrey for resale or scrap. I sold a single Albert for ?400 scrap to fund a bettter double Albert which is worth at present ?1200, without the 2 Hunters and the sovereign attached.
For Billy the Burglar, I live in Balham, in Atkins Road, the Gateway to the Sarf. No, I aint giving out the number.

Would you trust this man with your gold? I think he's the American boss.

I dreamt I was in a grave yard and the guy above was wearing a cloak and digging up the dead and bashing their teeth out, to get the gold and doing his scary smile! Fucking FREAKY man!
