the Wiki-leaks website...
Following the publication of lots of 'restricted' and 'secret' American Government documents on this website (top story on the news today) I wonder if this will lead to an enourmous number of people putting stuff on there, and typing accounts of their time whilst working within public sector organisations, from now onwards. You can do it totally anonomously and they can't trace you (apparently). People who have worked for a public body and had to sign the Official Secrets Act will now probably start blogging on there like mad. Do people think this is a good or a bad thing, a site that guarantee's anonimity to such an extent that things like the Official Secrets Act now don't mean anything?

First I dont think the information that appeared in the press and on the news today taken from the 90,000+ documents provided to Wikileaks told us anything much we didnt already know.
To summarise:
1. The Allies have killed more civilians than they have let on.
2. The Taliban have put up a better fight and have some more sophisticated weapons than the allies have let on.
3. Some people in Pakistan in senior positions support the Taliban.
Err, anybody who didnt already know that must have been living in cloud cuckoo land.
The problem with Wikileaks will be the same as with any other website/newspaper, how do we know the information supplied to it is correct as opposed to misinformation which could come from a variety of security services or other groups with their own agenda?
Cheers
