stargazing

Post by andy at handiwork »

If you like looking at the stars and the occasional planet, (Jupiter is the only one with the naked eye tonight, some way left and down from the lovely full moon) but dont really have much idea what you are looking at, try this free download.

Hours of harmless, informative fun. Makes a change from the porn.

If you have an android phone you can download Google Sky Map from the market (not sure if it's available from the app store for iPhone users). Anyway, you just point your phone at the sky and it maps all the planets, constellations and nebulae. Your phone knows where you're pointing based on your gps location. It's fantastic on a clear night.

I've been using Stellarium for a few years now in conjunction with my 6" Newtonian reflector telescope
