To be fair to the BBC I recall a lot of critical coverage by them of Israel's Gaza attack, and any number of programmes questioning our country's support of despots like the House of Saud.

In passing, I think that were concerned British citizens to financially contribute to a fund, or offer moral and promotional support, to the rebels in Libya, they would find themselves prosecuted under Blair's prohibition against 'aiding' foreign terrorism, seeing as how Gadaffi is still technically the recognised ruler of Libya, and the rebels are seeking to overthrow the odious but legitimate government of Libya. A few years ago there were prosecutions against Libyan exiles living here who were trying to raise funds for the nascent, and then clearly peaceful, opposition. Another one of Tony's poisoned chalices.

On the one hand you say their coverage is lightweight, but then condemn Simpson for what was probably a spot on analysis of the future sleep patterns of local despots. As for democracies doing nothing about Gaza, that was hardly the BBC's fault.
