Ace! Remember Dave from the Winchester?

Post by magoo »

Played by Glynn Edwards who got stabbed by Michael Caine in the back of the bookies in Wallsend etc etc etc

You know Dave from the Winchester in Minder?

Is Glynn Edwards (Dave from the Winchester) still alive?

I saw him in an old 1940`s film recently.

Minder was the best show of the 80`s. Apart from Auf Wierdersehen Pet (in the hut in Dussledorf).

Sorry I just remembered its O/T. But I really miss the old hut! I once worked as a sparks aprentice in Deutshland and used to drink with the lads from Osnabruck wich was a hairy experience especialy when the Red Caps came to round them up!

Minder WAS excellent for the first 3 series before it declined as the 'Arthur Daley show'. Wisely, Waterman left, but the others stayed, Dave at the Winchester included as well as DS Chisholme. Glynn Edwards who appeared regularly in THE GREATEST TV show of all time, 'The Sweeney', was also married to a fellow thespian, Yootha Joyce, from George and Mildred. He still occaisionally pops up on reruns of Dick Emery shows and Hi-di- hi on UK Gold etc but if is he still alive, he'd be about 75 now.

The Sweeney...greatist show of all time...big call Ace

I don't think you can go past 'The professionals' meself or for a little bit of sci-fi 'Blakes Seven'....unsurpassed usage of props....made by local girl guides I'd guess

cheers

Minder did go shit when Dennis Waterman left I agree.(Gary Webster..leave it out!) But Arthur Daley was the best character on TV ever. Yes EVER!

DS Chisolm (Patrick Malihide), DC Jones (Glen Povey), and remember DS Rycott (the actor is now brown bread and I cant remember his name). What a brilliant show! Remember Justin " El Cappo on The Manor"? Its a Sorry Lorry Maurie! High Drains Pilferrer, Senior Citizin Cain, The Beer Hunter.

Remember the one with Billy Connolley in about the Irish Jockey who snuffed it?

Anyway your both right the Sweeney was mint. So shut it you slags! John Thaw...God Rest His Soul. Cavanagh QC was OK aswell! Well I thought it was OK.

Anyone remember Minder On The Orient Express? Arthur got pissed and ended up hanging on the outside of the train and said "help! I have been ejaculated!"

Aaghh! Happy days.

What do we get on tv now? Fucking Big Brother and Pop Idols. Fucking shite!

O/T More Than Three Series Surely?

Post by magoo »

Ace. There were about sixty episodes or more filmed. 50+ from the golden age starring Dennis Waterman. The last series and the best in my opinion was the one shot in 1988 which was Dennis` final series. That series included many a star guest such as Ian McShane(lovejuice) as Jolly Jack Last and Warren Clarke as DCI Serious Crime Squad (Arthur said "frivolous crime squad surely and I have not even committed a frivolous offence" and Mr Kitchen as Maltese Tony (why are all Maltese guys called Tony?). And various other celeb star guests also starred.

Those were the days when telly was worth watching! Fuck Big Brother and Pop Idols. Bring back Arfur Daley and Jack Regan!

Bloody hell, I spent a few blurry evenings in Osnabruck during the time I lived there. Always wondered who that mysterious figure swigging from the brown paper bag was ;-)
