You don't need to have all the daft rainbow keys when you're working with a Mac, mine's a G5 and has a plain white keyboard. Plus you don't need to learn all the key features anyway as everything that can be done by learning shortcuts can be done with a click of the mouse.

The Final Cut Pro I have isn't specifically for HD, I've only used it in the past with mini-DV. We all have different responses to different systems, as long as you can find one you work easily with you're halfway home.

Mr Samsung I must agree I like PC.

I own (why I have no idea) an avid but I prefer my PC which I built specifically for editing. I down-load to PC using a JVC SRVS 30 EK whilst my PC uses an AMD Athlon 64 4000 Socket 939 chip and board, 4 gig of Branded IBM memory and to keep things bubling a GeForce 6800 256mb graphics card. Rather than use mad bonkers mega big HDs which XP continually like to scroll through I use a fixed 80 gig western with XP pro on it (and no other programs at all) and then a pair of caddies as slaves of 80 gig. The good thing about the caddy system is I can keep the HD as well as the tape but you do end up with protective boxes full of HDs. You may laugh but I edit using Liquid Chrome which I admit is heavy to learn but wow will it mutli layer if you want to baffle the viewers. Now I know XP is only 32 bit but the 64 system gives it more width which really helps when building to output but you Mac boys already have 64 bit.

I did once consider a G4 and had a demo but it BIT me bad. I also read that G4/5s are for the hardcore anoraks who love gismos and gads. Then I considered software for the G4 and found a bloke in Poland on a Friday afternoon during a blue moon doing stuff for it. The lack of anything for Mac compared to stuff on PC kept me on the path to righteousness.

OK I?m off to bark
