Stick to the first part and have fun.

It's after 'budget' that your problems really start. While BBFC certification is expensive its distribution is make or break. Have a look at threads on 'Roadtrip" to see the problems Marino has had getting his top quality product sold.

My suggestion would be to send samples to Your Choice for their Viewers Wives series. Alternatively talk to distributors/publishers, like Rude Britannia, with samples of your work and get a deal agreed before you shoot full length.

And you'll need a lot of willing mates to keep you in fresh material.

If you have to ask all those questions then you shouldnt really bother in the first place. Sorry to sound negative but its not something you should even think about if you don't know anything about the industry as it sounds you might not have anything to offer thats new therefore adding to an already saturated with product business.

On the other hand, I could be completely wrong. I'll be the first to apologise if I am but it sounds like you got a lot to learn and plenty money yet to burn before you understand how the business of making porn films are...I could go on and on and on but...why bother. I think Ghost Dog put it best. Master those and you may just get somewhere.

?While BBFC certification is expensive?

Is this a requirement to sell a DVD? Providing what is being shown on the DVD well within the limits of other productions, is it not simply ok to slap an R18 on the DVD cover?

And what about sites that offer downloads (instead of DVDs), non of there stuff has to pass the BBFC.

Oh darn it
Much as I HATE to say it bloody ghostdog has given you some good sound pointers (grrrrrr). The problem is as already said the making of the product is probably the most straight forward part with turning the product in to money being the hardest. There is a common delusion that porn is the easiest industry to make big bucks but the reality is it would be wiser to buy a burger van and take on your local McDonalds. You?ve mentioned you already have the first hurdle done for by having the funds in place but what kind of funds do you have access to? You have also said your mates will do a bit of shagging but ask yourself a question would you pay your hard earnt to watch your mates shag? Here?s a good yard stick for you. If you?ve read any of these posts and they have made you think about not going any further then there aint a hope of you getting going. On the other hand if you?ve read these and found the grit to get you to the next stage then you might just be the next Steve Hirsch!

any porn DVD must have R18 rating given by the bbfc if it is to be sold in licensed sex shops.... you cannot just put an R18 logo on a DVD if it hasnt been passed by the bbfc. Films that are downloaded from websites do not need to go before the bbfc.
