MODEL HIT BY MRSA
One of Britain's first Page Three models, Vivien Neves, caught the hospital superbug MRSA before she died.

Her sister Amanda said a nurse confirmed Vivien contracted the infection six weeks before her death last Sunday.

Vivien, 55 - the first woman to appear naked in a newspaper - was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the mid-1970s.

In November she was admitted to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford.

Amanda, 45, said: "I was told by a ward sister she probably contracted MRSA when she had a feeding tube removed.

"She was released home then readmitted with pneumonia. I'm sure MRSA may have sped up her death although she was seriously ill anyway".

The hospital said Vivien died of pneumonia and MS.

Film credit ('Whirlpool'):

Spaniard Jos? Ramon Larraz (often credited as ?Joseph Larraz? on Western releases of his films) is one of the most interesting characters in 1970?s European horror/exploitation cinema. In their brilliant book on the genre (?Immoral Tales?), authors Pete Tombs and Cathal Tohill devote a chapter to him (and the front cover), alongside Jean Rollin and Jess Franco. Illustrious company indeed. However, he has only really become critically recognised in recent years. He is best known for this film, VAMPYRES (1974), but has made many other films in the horror genre, along with many other domestic films (usually comedies). He started out as a comic book artist, but (like fellow maverick Jess Franco) became frustrated with the censorship of his art by Spanish dictator General Franco. Relocating to Britain (whilst Franco headed foe Germany), he made the exploitation film WHIRLPOOL (1969, aka ?She Died with Her Boots On?), which is now sadly considered a ?lost? film.

What one reader said about Vivs first nude picture in the Times

"I hope this delightful picture has the same effect on The Times's circulation as it does on mine."

Brilliant.
