Sam, a bit of a long shot, but have you tried contacting a local Camera Club - someone may be willing to develop your film for you.

Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?

Perhaps but at least with a company I've got some come back if I start seeing my content anywhere. Plus I could get them to put them on disc for me.
