Sony HVR-HD1000e
It's a cheap & cheerful 'pro-sumer' entry level HD camcorder.

It might look impressive but the build quality is pretty basic & limited controls.

?600 notes is a reasonable price, google some reviews on it for a better insight, but for sure the results will piss all over your XM2 being SD.

But also be prepared for a world of pain editing HD compared to SD if your not geared up for it, whole new ball game.

try a Sony HC1, pretty good for a smaller camera and reasonably priced for a HD camera too.

I have one of these cameras which I used to shoot stuff for TVX (eg some Extreme Close Up Shows)

No complaints about it at all, although Im also thinking of selling it as I have gone 'HD'
