ANY site that requires you to log in to VIEW messages is keeping the messages on a database, almost certainly "in clear" and available to Admin.
Reading such messages seems to be fairly common practice on model sites, probably only when flagged by keywords though. This is usually in an attempt to control/remove whatever the admins consider unsavory elements.
Re other sites that do this - if I was running a model site that included under 18's or where most models were not working at adult levels, I'd probably do the same - because it is a fact of life that the predators are drawn to such sites, and I'd really not want to find that my database contained evidence, unknown to me, that some bastard had groomed some girl into a meeting and then attacked her.
However, at AIR we do not have access to the content of messages as we simply send out by email, but we do respond to people who contact us if they get idiotic ones. I've removed a handful of people over the past few years. I thought it would be higher, but I guess most models are god at spotting the different between a sad idiot they just ignore, and a threat they report.
